Dos and Don’ts for an Online Fantasy Football League

In every sport, there are guidelines that you have to follow. It is very important that you know these things so that you can have a deeper understanding of whatever fantasy sport you want, just like football. Here are some guidelines that you would want to remember when it comes to an online fantasy football league.

Dos

. Use a cheat sheet

This is for the preparation of your draft. You can make your own cheat sheet but there are also those that you can use coming from the Internet. In case you want to use both, that is fine as well. You can use whichever you are more comfortable with. However, you have to remember that the draft is not always 100% successful. The team still depends on how the players will perform. All you need to do first is start or join an online fantasy football league.

Become active in fantasy football mock drafts

These mock drafts usually happen in chat rooms or in some cases, football forums. The idea of participating in this event is that you are giving your opinion to others. They may even follow your lead and accept your ideas.

Learn the fantasy football projections

There are people who do this for you and you have that option whether to follow it or not. Nevertheless, you can also learn how to do this to reverse the cycle. Now that you can do the projections for the fantasy football, others will now rely on what you think before making their drafts.

Don’ts

Forgetting weekly updates for the online fantasy football league

If there is one thing in the world that you should not commit in an online fantasy football league, that is not updating your lineup weekly. Think about it. For example, one of your players injured himself in the previous game, you have to have someone to fill in his position. Being one player short could mean a loss on your part.

Trading your star players

You have to make them warm up and let them do their thing. Do not go on trading star players especially if it is just the start of the season. Give them ample time to show you what they can do. Do not panic because it will do you no good. Imagine if you traded them and then they end up doing well for another team. How would that make you feel?

Abandoning your team

No matter what happens, do not abandon your team. You are in this together so you have to stick up with them even if they are unable to live up to the expectations that you have. They count on you so just be by their side all throughout the game and season.

These are only a few of the dos and don’ts when it comes to fantasy football. Do remember these things because they will come in handy once the season starts.

Football Display Cases For The New Digs

After years of renting, I bought my first home this month and I am pretty proud. My mom started in right away, talking about window treatments, lighting fixtures, blah, blah, and more blah. I put the dart in that balloon straightaway. Sure, I am letting her find some curtains and pick up the bathroom essentialsin basic primary colors onlyand I plan to handle the dcor myself. Now, you may laugh at the way your average 25 year old would choose to decorate, but give me a few weeks and Ill be the one laughing.

See, I have several married friends. And two of them even have pretty cool wives who let them carve out a section of the basement or garage to create a man-cave. Heres my plan: I dont need a man-caveI am crafting the man-castle.

Heres my to-do list:

1. Find a prime location for my 52 inch flat screen. Strategically find furniture, install sound system, and maneuver lighting to accommodate the TV as the focal point in the great room.

2. Shop football display cases. Ill need football helmet display cases, ball cases, and some type of framing for two special jerseys. Dedicate dining room to sports memorabilia displays.

3. Kitchen supplies. Two words: paper products. Then I can let my mom work a little magic; shell like that and she is likely to be the only one doing any cooking in there.

4. Speaking of food, purchase a Weber kettle and charcoal. Grilling up a fat burger or a decent steak with a bag of chips on the side is about all I need to get by.

5. Get started on the basement. Heres where the magic happens, and I havent fully fleshed the concept out just yet. The great room upstairs will be dedicated to game watching; the basement to game playing. I want to install a bar area and either a pool table or a ping pong table (maybe both, if I can work out the logistics) and get another TV. I may even get more baseball or football display cases to house more sports memorabilia down here too. This project may get postponed for a few months.

So, thats the plan. Ive only been here a few weeks and I am getting the essentials about wrapped up so I can start my list. And my goal is to be the envy of all my friends, the king of my man-castle.

Surprise NCAA and NFL Football Picks

Those who publish football picks routinely point out the long shots and the sure-to-wins, but when it comes to winning big in NCAA and NFL football pools, a pocketful of sleepers – those teams that come out of nowhere to be huge contenders in the post season – can be your best friend. This is especially true if you like betting against the spread. The truth is that statistically, most teams that fall into the possible “sleepers” category regularly beat the spread, and often win those games outright. Many of these teams, like the Bengals, for example, fly under the radar as they steadily build their lines. Then, one year they break through to win major championships “out of nowhere.”

This is why most so-called sleepers in either the NFL or NCAA really shouldn’t be a huge surprise. When you put together last year’s records with what happens as the teams start going head to head, it’s not hard to start putting two and two together and coming up with the best against the spread NFL and NCAA football picks. Now that the 2013-2014 football season is underway, things are starting to shape up. Here are a few football picks that may come as a big surprise to anyone who isn’t in the know.

BCS NCAA Football Picks

While everyone is already handing the CFB Championship to the Crimson Tide, there are a few teams nipping at their heels… and if schedules turn out as easy as they look, Alabama just might have some serious competition. Tops among them are the Oregon Ducks, who are fielding a pair of Heisman contenders, and the LSU Tigers, are looking very good. With all the talent at the top of the list, you might want to look a bit further down the odds for a team that will surprise – and put a bit of money in your pocket by betting against the spread instead of shooting for straight wins in game after game. With 21 to 1 odds, you wouldn’t think the Miami Hurricanes have a shot, but the Canes may have a few surprises under their helmets. They’ve got some serious talent at QB and RB, and they’ve already pulled off a win over Florida, proving that they’ve got more in their corner than they’ve demonstrated recently. If they can shape up their offense and put in some serious work, a Top 10 finish is eminently possible.

NFL Football Picks

It seems that every year, betting sites trot out the Cincinnati Bengals as the long shot, Super Bowl sleeper favorite – and year after year, the Bengals live up to their reputation as a team that chokes on big games. If the early Bengals win over the Steelers is any indication, this could be the year they finally come through. The Bengals are fielding an offensive line that is better than you think (and isn’t that the definition of sleeper?) and their defensive line was one of the best in the NFL last year. Keep your ears and eyes on the tiger. This could be the year they pull it off.

When wagering, look for opportunities to bet against the spread on these teams as the season progresses. They may not go all the way, but they’re sure to eke out some surprising wins and close calls that make them worth a second look.
