NFL wide receivers make high-flying catches that sell NFL tickets. Every fantasy football owner knows that Randy Moss and Terrell Owens are going to have big years, but here are some guys that you can get in the late rounds that could end being draft steals.
Anthony Gonzalez, Indianapolis Colts: With Marvin Harrison’s health in question, Gonzalez could find himself in a starting role in one of the best offenses in the league. Gonzalez played well down the stretch last season and showed some chemistry with quarterback Peyton Manning.
Nate Burleson, Seattle Seahawks: It’s hard to find a guy that scored nine touchdowns last season that is flying under the radar, but Burleson is managing to just that. Deion Branch is recovering from an injury, D.J. Hackett left town and Bobby Engram is 1,000 years old. Burleson could become quarterback Matt Hasselbeck’s go-to guy and fulfill the promise he showed in Minnesota.
Bryant Johnson, San Francisco 49ers: This guy has loads of talent. He’s big, fast and has pretty good hands. He’s been buried on the depth chart in Arizona behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin the past few years. If Alex Smith and the Niners can flourish in Mike Martz’s offense, expect Johnson to be on the receiving end of a lot of passes.
Ted Ginn Jr., Miami Dolphins: We don’t even know who the quarterback will be, but Ginn is too talented to ignore. He really came on towards the end of last season on a team that was worse of then than they are now.
Sidney Rice, Minnesota Vikings: With Bernard Berrian attracting attention across the field, Rice could be in line for some easy catches as long as Tavaris Jackson can perform on a decent level. Adrian Peterson will sell the NFL tickets in Minnesota, but they’ll need a passing game to make the playoffs.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders: Curry is really good when he’s healthy and is a solid red zone target. He’s a former quarterback and knows the game very well. With Javon Walker’s injury history, you could be looking at the Raiders’ number on guy for a portion of the season.
Muhsin Muhammad: It may have been three years ago, but the last time Muhammad played a season with Jake Delhomme he amassed nearly 1500 hundred yards and scored 16 touchdowns.
None of these guys will set the league on fire or sell a ton of NFL tickets, but they could serve a fantasy team well as a number three receiver.
